The Global Compact on Migration (2018) as the first attempt to provide international migration governance with a comprehensive framework seeks to introduce correctives hereto, and facilitate orderly, safe, regular and responsible migration and mobility of people, including through the implementation of planned and well managed migration policies. It insists on realigning state practices with internationally agreed standards.
