Abstract
Protection of civilians in armed conflicts is one of the important issues that has always been a subject of discussion and debate. The four Geneva Conventions as an introduction to international humanitarian law, Therefore the main objective of this research is to apply the laws and regulations of international humanitarian law to the ongoing crisis in Gaza. This research seeks to answer the following main question What has been the state of international humanitarian law in the Gaza war during the period of 2023-2024?" In response to this question, the research hypothesis is that In the events of the Gaza war, the neglect of fundamental principles and rules of humanitarian law—namely the principles of distinction, proportionality, and the necessity of precautionary measures—has led to severe violations of these rights."The findings indicate that Although international actions such as referral to the International Criminal Court, and regional measures, including the holding of meetings issuing statements and condemnations have been taken nevertheless In the Gaza crisis, international humanitarian law and its general principles have been neglected and severely violated Protection of civilians and the necessity of distinguishing between military and civilian forces are fundamental principles of humanitarian law in international law.
